Here's a classic guacamole recipe that's easy to make and full of flavor!

Classic Guacamole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Ripe avocados: 2 large
  • Lime: 1 (juiced)
  • Red onion: 1/4 small, finely chopped
  • Tomato: 1 medium, diced (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro: 2 tablespoons, chopped (optional)
  • Garlic: 1 clove, minced (optional)
  • Salt: to taste
  • Pepper: to taste
  • Jalapeño: 1 small, finely chopped (optional, for heat)

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Knife and cutting board

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Avocados:

    • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mash the Avocados:

    • Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocado to your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
  3. Add Lime Juice:

    • Immediately add the lime juice to the mashed avocado to prevent browning.
  4. Mix in Other Ingredients:

    • Stir in the chopped red onion, diced tomato (if using), chopped cilantro (if using), minced garlic (if using), and chopped jalapeño (if using).
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
  5. Taste and Adjust:

    • Taste the guacamole and adjust seasoning or lime juice as needed.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve immediately with tortilla chips, on tacos, or as a topping for your favorite dishes. If you're not serving it right away, cover it tightly with plastic wrap to prevent browning.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, consider adding a dash of cumin or smoked paprika.
  • You can also mix in other ingredients like corn, black beans, or diced bell peppers for variation.
  • If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly against the surface to minimize air exposure.

Enjoy your guacamole! If you have any questions or need variations, just let me know!
